- • Architect and scale the tools, SDKs, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native infrastructure that 1,000+ Robinhood engineers rely on every day to ship secure, compliant, and lightning-fast code to 23 million customers.
- • Own the end-to-end developer journey—from local inner-loop (repo clone → commit → test → PR) to outer-loop (merge → build → deploy → monitor)—cutting build times, flaky-test rates, and deployment friction by 50 % within your first year.
- • Lead technical design and code reviews for high-impact services such as remote-build execution, artifact registries, dynamic staging environments, policy-as-gatekeepers, and self-service infrastructure provisioning on AWS EKS and GCP GKE.
- • Partner with Product, Security, and Compliance to embed guardrails (SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, license checks, SBOM generation) directly into pull-request workflows so every engineer can move fast without ever sacrificing customer trust or regulatory requirements.
- • Instrument everything: define SLIs/SLOs for build, test, and deploy stages; publish real-time dashboards; and use data to prioritize reliability work that saves 1,000+ engineering hours per quarter.
- • Mentor senior and staff engineers across the company on cloud-native patterns, test pyramid best practices, and cost-efficient resource usage, raising the technical bar while fostering an inclusive, learning-oriented culture.
- • Evaluate emerging technologies—Bazel remote caching, WebAssembly plug-ins, eBPF-based telemetry, policy engines like OPA—to keep Robinhood’s platform two steps ahead of industry standards and regulatory expectations.
- • Champion open-source contributions and inner-source adoption, turning internally proven tools into community projects that amplify Robinhood’s engineering brand and attract world-class talent.
- • Participate in a lightweight, blameless on-call rotation (roughly one week in eight) where you’ll automate yourself out of pages, not into them, and use incidents as opportunities to harden the platform.
- • Influence multi-year roadmaps and headcount planning; your proposals directly shape how hundreds of millions of dollars in cloud spend and security risk are optimized.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years shipping production code in Python, Go, Java, or Kotlin, with at least 3 years focused on developer-platform, infrastructure, or SRE domains.
- • Expert-level fluency with container orchestration (Kubernetes), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CDK, or Pulumi), and modern CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Argo, Spinnaker, or Buildkite).
- • Demonstrated success reducing build/test/deploy latency by 40 %+ through caching, parallelization, or remote execution (Bazel, Buck, or Gradle Build Cache).
- • Deep understanding of cloud security controls (OIDC, RBAC, KMS, network policies) and experience embedding them into developer workflows without toil.
- • Nice-to-have: contributions to open-source build tools, experience with FINRA or SEC compliance automation, or a track record of presenting at KubeCon, re:Invent, or similar conferences.
