📋 Description

• • Own the architecture, design, and delivery of the backend services that power JioStar’s live-streaming engine, serving tens of millions of concurrent viewers during marquee sports events such as IPL, Pro-Kabaddi, and ICC tournaments.
• • Build ultra-low-latency microservices in Python or Golang that ingest satellite or stadium feeds, transcode them on-the-fly, and fan them out across multiple monetization tiers (SVOD, AVOD, FAST) while guaranteeing <3 second end-to-end latency.
• • Design fault-tolerant, horizontally-scalable systems that gracefully handle traffic spikes of 10× baseline within minutes; implement circuit breakers, bulkheads, and back-pressure mechanisms to ensure 99.99 % availability during peak concurrency.
• • Lead the full software lifecycle—from technical design and code reviews to automated testing, blue-green deployments, and post-release monitoring—using AWS MediaServices, EKS, Kafka, and Datadog to maintain continuous observability and rapid rollback capabilities.
• • Translate complex business requirements (ad-insertion markers, blackout rules, regional commentary tracks) into elegant technical solutions, partnering closely with Product, Ad-Ops, and Content Security teams to hit aggressive launch windows.
• • Drive the long-term technical roadmap by evaluating emerging protocols (SRT, RIST, WebRTC), storage formats (LL-HLS, DASH-CMAF), and ML-driven QoE optimizations; present findings to senior leadership and secure buy-in for multi-quarter initiatives.
• • Champion operational excellence through rigorous SLOs, error-budget policies, and blameless post-mortems; reduce MTTR by automating runbooks, chaos-testing critical paths, and instituting real-time alerting that pages the right on-call engineer within two minutes.
• • Mentor a growing team of backend and DevOps engineers via pair programming, architecture deep-dives, and career-ladder coaching; establish coding standards, reusable libraries, and internal tech talks that raise the bar for code quality and system design across JioStar.
• • Continuously optimize cloud spend by rightsizing clusters, leveraging spot fleets for non-critical workloads, and negotiating reserved-instance commitments—delivering a 20 %+ reduction in per-stream cost without compromising viewer experience.
• • Contribute to open-source communities and internal guilds, sharing lessons learned from operating at India-scale and helping JioStar become a recognized thought leader in live-streaming technology.
