- • Senior Software Engineer at Forward Financing plays a critical role in building and scaling the technology that empowers small businesses across America with fast, flexible funding solutions—directly supporting the company’s mission to unlock capital for underserved entrepreneurs.
- • Design, develop, and implement scalable and secure software solutions, with a focus on backend systems using Ruby on Rails, to meet evolving business needs and enhance third-party integration infrastructure for AI/ML and analytics initiatives.
- • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring alignment between engineering efforts and product goals.
- • Serve as a technical leader within scrum teams, driving improvements in code quality, scalability, reliability, and speed-to-market while maintaining active engagement across multiple teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
- • Elevate application quality through enforcement of development best practices, including conducting design and PR reviews, creating technical artifacts, and coaching teammates to raise engineering productivity.
- • Act as a mentor to junior engineers, fostering growth by instilling best practices, sharing knowledge, and helping to elevate the overall technical bar across the organization.
- • Contribute to a mission-driven, remote-first culture that values flexibility, innovation, and continuous improvement, where employees are empowered to work from anywhere while maintaining collaboration during EST business hours.
- • Help advance Forward Financing’s impact—having already delivered over $4.5 billion in funding to more than 87,000 small businesses since 2012—by building reliable, high-performance systems that enable faster approvals and same-day funding.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of full-stack development experience with a strong focus on backend systems, including required proficiency in Ruby on Rails.
- • Demonstrated experience in Agile software development environments, including participation in scrum teams and iterative delivery cycles.
- • Proven ability to lead and refine projects, with experience in technical leadership, mentorship, and influencing team outcomes.
- • Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams to deliver complex features.
- • Typically holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or possesses equivalent relevant experience.
