Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Senior Software Engineer at Nextpatient, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the patient experience by building modern, intuitive software that integrates with legacy medical systems to deliver online scheduling, paperless check-in, automated reminders, waitlist management, and seamless payment processing—directly improving both patient satisfaction and clinic operational efficiency.
- • You will own end-to-end development of key product features from concept to deployment, working closely with co-founders, a product manager, a graphic designer, and fellow engineers to gather real-world feedback from client calls and translate it into meaningful improvements that drive continual product excellence.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing, coding, testing, and maintaining full-stack features using Python and PostgreSQL on Linux, contributing to AI-enhanced functionalities, participating in code reviews, debugging production issues, and mentoring junior engineers through knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving.
- • You will actively engage in occasional client calls to understand frontline challenges in medical practices, ensuring your technical solutions are grounded in real user needs and directly address pain points in scheduling, intake, and communication workflows.
- • As part of a small, self-funded team of 40, you will enjoy significant autonomy and ownership over your work, with the freedom to influence technical direction, prioritize tasks, and shape product strategy without the layers of bureaucracy common in larger organizations.
- • You will contribute to a culture of rapid iteration and innovation, where ambiguity is embraced and change is constant—requiring a startup-minded approach that values initiative, adaptability, and a bias toward action over perfectionism.
- • Over time, you will deepen your expertise in healthcare technology domains, learning how medical offices operate behind the scenes, even though prior healthcare experience is not required—Nextpatient provides the context and training to succeed.
- • You will have the opportunity to grow into a technical leader within the team, potentially guiding architectural decisions, mentoring peers, and influencing hiring and process improvements as the company scales thoughtfully.
- • Your work will directly impact thousands of patients and healthcare providers nationwide, giving you a sense of purpose by improving access to care and reducing administrative burden in a meaningful, measurable way.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of making significant, impactful contributions to complex products
- • Strong proficiency in full-stack development using Python and PostgreSQL, including experience building scalable web applications and RESTful APIs
- • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced startup environments with comfort navigating changing priorities and evolving requirements
🏖️ Benefits

- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
- • Generous paid time off policy, including 11 federally recognized holidays and encouragement to take a real 2-week vacation annually
- • Year-end and mid-year company-wide trips (with +1s included) to destinations like Park City, Miami, Austin, Chicago, SF, and Vegas
