📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality backend services and supporting systems for a healthcare financial platform serving over 750 payers and millions of providers and consumers.
• Work across the full stack as needed to deliver end-to-end solutions, including APIs, data stores, deployment pipelines, and user-facing components.
• Own services in production by ensuring deployment, monitoring, performance optimization, and operational health are consistently maintained.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to translate functional requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Influence architectural decisions with a focus on scalability, reliability, security, and long-term maintainability of cloud-native systems.
• Partner with engineering teams to diagnose, resolve, and prevent production issues and system bottlenecks in real-time environments.
• Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and architectural guidance to foster technical growth and adherence to best practices.
• Help establish and institutionalize operational readiness standards, observability practices, and system ownership models across the engineering organization.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity, automate routine tasks, and improve the quality of code and operational workflows.
• Contribute to the evolution of CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery processes to accelerate release cycles while maintaining system stability.
• Build and operate web-based services and APIs using modern cloud infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on performance and fault tolerance.
• Act as a technical leader who champions clean code, system reliability, and innovation in alignment with Zelis’s culture of agility and continuous improvement.
• Embrace a growth mindset by actively seeking feedback, adapting to change, and using technology to challenge the status quo in healthcare financial systems.
• Maintain a collaborative mindset, communicating effectively across disciplines to ensure alignment on technical and business objectives.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily focused on backend systems
• Proven ability to deliver reliable, maintainable software in production environments
• Experience building and operating web-based services and APIs
• Experience working with cloud platforms and modern infrastructure environments
• Experience contributing to or improving CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery processes
