📋 Description

• • Architect, build and own the next generation of Brighte’s backend platform that enables millions of Australians to finance solar panels, batteries and home-energy upgrades. Every line of code you ship directly accelerates the country’s transition to net-zero.
• • Design and maintain highly-scalable, event-driven microservices in TypeScript and Node.js that process thousands of real-time credit decisions, loan disbursements and equipment-fulfilment events per hour.
• • Collaborate shoulder-to-shoulder with product managers, designers, credit-risk analysts and front-end engineers to deliver end-to-end features—from whiteboard sketch to production release—in a fast-moving, fortnightly sprint cadence.
• • Champion code quality and reliability: write clean, testable code (unit, integration, contract), enforce rigorous pull-request reviews, and embed automated security scanning and performance regression tests into our CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions + AWS CDK).
• • Contribute to system-wide architecture decisions: evaluate when to break a monolith into new microservices, choose between REST and GraphQL, and decide where event sourcing or CQRS will future-proof our lending engine.
• • Own production health: participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation, dive deep into distributed tracing (X-Ray, CloudWatch), and lead blameless post-mortems that turn outages into durable reliability improvements.
• • Mentor and level-up a growing team of mid-level and graduate engineers through pair-programming, brown-bag sessions and personalised growth plans—helping them master Node.js performance tuning, AWS cost optimisation and secure-coding patterns.
• • Stay ahead of regulatory change: interpret new AFCA guidelines, ASIC lending codes and consumer-data-right (CDR) standards, then translate them into technical controls and automated compliance checks that keep Brighte bullet-proof.
• • Drive continuous cost and carbon optimisation—right-size Lambda memory, adopt Graviton instances, and instrument energy-usage telemetry so our cloud footprint shrinks as fast as our customers’ power bills.
• • Experiment boldly: run proof-of-concepts with serverless containers, Step Functions and EventBridge to cut loan-approval latency from minutes to seconds, then socialise findings across the broader engineering guild.
• • Foster a culture of psychological safety and inclusive innovation—whether you’re debating database isolation levels or choosing the next Thursday social game, every voice (including yours) is heard and valued.
