📋 Description

• As a Senior Software Engineer at Rocket Mortgage, LLC, you will play a critical role in building and scaling an innovative platform that originates personal loans, directly impacting how users access financial services through clean, tested, and well-documented code while mentoring peers and driving technical excellence.
• You will own meaningful product and technical initiatives from concept to delivery, translating problem statements into shipped, measurable outcomes by collaborating closely with product and business partners to make impact-driven tradeoffs focused on conversion, adoption, reliability, and real user experiences.
• You will lead by example by establishing engineering standards through your work—raising the bar on quality, pragmatism, and speed—bringing depth to complex problems and simplicity where appropriate, while continuously seeking leverage through incremental improvements that compound over time.
• You will work within a modern microservices architecture using a TypeScript-centric stack including Next.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Docker, AWS, and tools like Github, Nx Monorepo, Amplitude, Sentry, Splunk, and Dynatrace to build, monitor, and iterate on production systems.
• You will gain deep ownership experience across the full software lifecycle—from design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, fixes, and post-production iteration—while handling regulated data (PII/PIFI) responsibly and contributing to a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and continuous improvement at Rocket Loans.
• You will grow as a technical leader by influencing team practices, improving system reliability and user experience, and helping shape the future of a fast, simple, and user-friendly personal loan platform that combines veteran expertise with fresh innovation.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with hands-on expertise in building, shipping, and supporting production software using Node.js, React, and TypeScript.
• Proven ability to own features end to end across frontend and backend, including deep comfort with code-level details and confidence in making architectural decisions and tradeoffs.
• Demonstrated experience owning CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, production monitoring and observability, and post-production support and iteration in live environments.
• Experience handling regulated or sensitive data (PII/PIFI) responsibly and intentionally, with awareness of compliance and data protection best practices.
• Strong product mindset: ability to start with user and business problems, understand end-user goals and success metrics before writing code, and prioritize impact over code correctness.
• Excellent communication skills: ability to clearly explain decisions, tradeoffs, and impact to engineers, product partners, and stakeholders through demos, discussions, and collaboration.
