Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Design and ship production-grade AI agent systems on top of frontier LLMs, incorporating tool use, sub-agents, retrieval, structured outputs, and MCP servers to automate industrial supply chain workflows.
  • • Embed directly with customers and operators in manufacturing and logistics facilities to observe real-world operations, learn industry-specific vocabularies and edge cases, and translate those insights into agent designs that remove manual work from human workflows.
  • • Own evaluation as a first-class discipline: build datasets from real production traces, design rubrics and graders, run controlled experiments, and ship measurable improvements that demonstrably increase productivity or reduce errors.
  • • Architect and build the backend data services, APIs, and integrations that underpin the agent layer, including connections to customers’ WMS, TMS, and ERP systems, as well as internal Traba platform components.
  • • Develop and codify repeatable deployment patterns for agent systems to ensure each new customer rollout is faster, more reliable, and less manual than the last, reducing time-to-value across the customer base.
  • • Iterate on prompt engineering at production scale, optimizing for reliability, cost efficiency, and graceful failure modes—not just accuracy—using production traces to inform improvements.
  • • Design and implement evaluation harnesses using frameworks like Langfuse or internal tooling to detect regressions, measure agent performance, and validate behavioral consistency across edge cases.
  • • Work across the full stack: from prompt refinement and agent orchestration to backend services in Python/Node.js, PostgreSQL data modeling, and customer-facing UI elements, adapting weekly based on operational needs.
  • • Contribute to product direction by translating field insights into feature proposals, collaborating closely with the CTO, product, and operations teams to turn 0-to-1 ideas into scaled deployments.
  • • Build and ship in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with minimal documentation, taking ownership of scoping, execution, testing, and launch without waiting for fully defined specs.
  • • Contribute to engineering culture and hiring as a founding member of the Agents team, helping shape processes, standards, and mentorship for a growing team focused on applied AI in industrial operations.
  • • Maintain rigorous attention to detail in debugging, tracing agent behavior, and ensuring system observability—ensuring that failed prompts, tool errors, or data inconsistencies are quickly diagnosed and resolved.
  • • Operate with an AI operator’s mindset: prioritize capability, reliability, and unit economics over theoretical model performance; measure success by real operational impact, not just metric benchmarks.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 1+ year shipping LLM- or agent-based features into production
  • • Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js, with experience designing APIs, distributed systems, and data models in PostgreSQL
  • • Hands-on experience with modern agent stack: prompt engineering at scale, evaluation frameworks (e.g., Langfuse, Braintrust), agent orchestration patterns, and frontier model APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.)
  • • Track record of building and shipping in fast, ambiguous environments—ideally at an early-stage vertical AI, AI-agent, FDE-style (Palantir, Scale), or data-product company (Hex, Omni, dbt)
  • • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of running customer workshops and writing clear design docs
  • • Genuine excitement about industrial operations and applying applied AI to improve light industrial labor workflows

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Start-up equity
  • • Competitive Salary
  • • 100% Paid health, dental & vision coverage
  • • Dinner Provided via DoorDash, free DashPass & stocked kitchen for NY employees
  • • Commuter benefit
  • • Gympass Benefit
