📋 Description

• As a Senior Software Engineer on the AI Core team at Chainalysis, you will design and build the foundational platform that enables AI-driven access to blockchain investigation and compliance products, directly impacting how users interact with critical financial intelligence through intelligent agents.
• You will own end-to-end development of agent runtime systems, skill architectures, sandboxed execution environments, and full-stack features that allow AI to reason about user needs and deliver automated, secure, and data-grounded outcomes across Chainalysis’s proprietary blockchain data ecosystem.
• The AI Core team operates with high ownership and technical depth, focusing on cutting-edge AI infrastructure where engineering excellence directly enables trustworthy, scalable, and secure AI applications in high-stakes domains like financial compliance and investigations.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing the context and tool layer that shapes agent reasoning, building and operating secure sandboxed execution environments with tenant isolation, developing skill client libraries and documentation, and shipping full-stack features spanning frontend (React, TanStack), backend (Node.js, TypeScript, Effect), and infrastructure (AWS, Docker, OpenTelemetry).
• You will develop workflow platforms for multi-step automation, drive AI quality through observability and multi-model orchestration, manage context windows and prompt engineering strategies, and ensure systems meet enterprise-grade security, durability, and performance requirements.
• Collaboration is central: you’ll work closely with product, data, and security teams to integrate AI capabilities into real-world compliance workflows, while mentoring peers and raising the technical bar through code reviews, design docs, and operational excellence.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience building and shipping full-stack features across frontend, backend, and infrastructure, with demonstrated ownership from design through production operation in complex, distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience working with LLMs in production, including tool use, agent orchestration, streaming, prompt engineering, or retrieval-augmented generation, with a clear understanding of failure modes and mitigation strategies.
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals in a typed language (e.g., TypeScript, Python), including concurrency, error handling, state management, and system design principles applied at scale.
• Experience building or operating systems with real security constraints such as tenant isolation, scoped credentials, sandboxed execution, or similar patterns where trust boundaries and data privacy are critical.
• Familiarity with designing tool interfaces or capability systems for AI agents (e.g., function schemas, skill architectures) that enable structured, secure access to external systems or APIs.
• Experience with the Effect ecosystem or strongly-typed functional programming in TypeScript, or equivalent commitment to type safety and composability in software design.
