📋 Description

• Lead the design and delivery of high-priority AI initiatives across Ironclad, from early prototype through production launch, focusing on contract AI, agentic workflows, intelligent extraction, search, and automation.
• Rapidly ramp into new systems, codebases, and problem areas with minimal hand-holding, driving execution across multiple domains and starting new codebases as needed.
• Incubate new AI product ideas by partnering closely with product, design, legal domain experts, and go-to-market teams to turn customer needs into shipped features.
• Raise the engineering bar through strong technical judgment, crisp execution, and pragmatic use of AI-assisted development tools while maintaining engineering rigor.
• Identify and close organizational or technical bottlenecks by building, debugging, simplifying, or unblocking teams to accelerate critical initiatives.
• Mentor other engineers through hands-on leadership, code reviews, technical direction, and example-setting, fostering a culture of high ownership and collaboration.
• Help shape Ironclad’s approach to building modern AI systems, including evals, orchestration, prompting, retrieval, and production quality standards for LLM-powered applications.
• Operate as a technical anchor for the elite Squad Team, a small, high-leverage group focused on fast-moving, cross-functional AI projects that cut across product and platform boundaries.
• Work in a hybrid model requiring office attendance at least twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays for collaboration and connection, with additional in-office days for team or company events.
• Build and ship production software in fast-paced environments with a strong bias to action, balancing speed and quality while maintaining high engineering standards.
• Demonstrate high agency and ownership by seeing gaps, forming a point of view, and driving initiatives forward without waiting for direction.
• Apply strong software engineering fundamentals, particularly in backend and distributed systems, to solve complex problems across unfamiliar codebases.
• Leverage modern LLM application patterns such as agentic workflows, retrieval, tool use, and quality/error analysis to deliver customer value quickly.
• Use AI coding tools to accelerate development while ensuring maintainability, scalability, and reliability of shipped systems.
• Prioritize product instinct and customer empathy, ensuring systems not only function but solve meaningful user problems and improve over time through real usage.
• Contribute to Ironclad’s strategic advantage in contract AI by delivering durable, high-impact features that accelerate business processes for enterprise customers.

• Ability to build and ship production software in fast-paced environments
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, especially in backend and distributed systems
• Experience building AI-powered product features, platforms, or internal developer systems
• Familiarity with modern LLM application patterns such as agentic workflows, retrieval, evals, tool use, and quality/error analysis
• High agency and ownership: ability to see gaps, form a point of view, and drive things forward independently
• Strong collaboration skills and low ego, working effectively by influence across product, design, and legal teams
