- • Senior Software Engineer - App Foundations role at Abnormal Security Corporation, a remote position based in Canada, focused on owning and advancing core platform services that power all Abnormal products.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing, building, and operating high-performance backend services using Python/Django, Go, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, and ElasticSearch; leading end-to-end delivery of platform features; improving system reliability through SLOs and observability; contributing to the LLM inference platform (LMS); building AI-native internal tools; mentoring engineers; and collaborating across product, TPM, and peer platform teams.

- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, AI infrastructure, and platform engineering while shaping how AI is leveraged as core infrastructure in an AI-native environment, with opportunities to lead technical design, influence team practices, and grow as a senior individual contributor.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of backend software engineering experience building and operating production services at scale
- • 4+ years on relevant tech stacks — Python (Django) and/or Go; MySQL / PostgreSQL; and hands-on experience with Kafka, Redis, and ElasticSearch
- • 3+ years supporting enterprise-class customers in production, including ownership of SLOs, on-call, and incident response
- • 2+ years of system design experience — demonstrated ability to design, document, and land non-trivial cross-team architectures
- • Proven experience leading multi-quarter projects end-to-end: tech design, implementation, launch, and post-launch operations
- • Demonstrated daily use of AI coding tools in your current workflow, with specific examples of improving team workflows beyond code generation
- • Strong written and verbal communication; proven ability to collaborate autonomously and asynchronously with remote stakeholders
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
🏖️ Benefits
- • Opportunity to work on AI-native platform infrastructure including the Large Model Service (LMS) and shape how LLMs are used in production
- • Ability to build and deploy AI-powered internal tools that automate workflows like ticket triage, on-call support, and post-mortem drafting
- • Clear path for technical leadership and mentorship without requiring a people management track
- • Collaboration with cross-functional teams including product, TPM, and peer platform teams on high-impact initiatives
- • Involvement in hiring processes to help grow the App Foundations team
- • Remote work flexibility based in Canada with a company that treats AI as core infrastructure
