📋 Description

• As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend at Aircall, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the core infrastructure of an AI-powered customer communications platform that serves over 22,000 companies globally, directly contributing to scalable, reliable systems that enable sales and support teams to work smarter through voice, SMS, WhatsApp, and AI-driven automation.
• You will design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs that power Aircall’s AI Voice Agent, AI Assist, and AI Assist Pro features, ensuring low-latency, fault-tolerant systems capable of handling real-time audio processing, transcription, and intelligent call routing at scale.
• You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, data science, and frontend engineers to translate AI innovations into production-ready features, participating in architectural decisions that balance innovation with system stability and observability.
• You will write clean, testable, and well-documented code primarily in Python and/or Go, leveraging modern frameworks and cloud-native patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven architecture) while advocating for best practices in testing, CI/CD, and code review processes.
• You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical documentation, and help evolve engineering standards across the backend team, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and thoughtful speed in a fast-moving, product-driven environment.
• You will work from Aircall’s North American headquarters in Seattle, engaging in hybrid collaboration with global teams in Paris, London, Berlin, New York, and other offices, contributing to a diverse, inclusive workplace where impact and trust are valued.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend systems, APIs, and distributed services.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Go, with proven experience building scalable, production-grade services in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and event-driven systems, including experience with message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience working with real-time data processing, audio/video streaming, or AI/ML-integrated systems is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive unit and integration tests, and familiarity with observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing) to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Strong collaboration skills and experience working in agile, cross-functional teams with a product-minded mindset.
