📋 Description

• Architect and deliver next-generation backend services that power WalkMe’s revolutionary DeepUI runtime engine, enabling AI-driven perception of graphical user interfaces for hundreds of millions of end-users across the globe.
• Own the full lifecycle of distributed, multi-region cloud services—from whiteboard architecture sessions through production deployment—ensuring sub-second latency, 99.9 % uptime, and elastic scale to support sudden traffic spikes generated by enterprise rollouts.
• Design and implement microservice ecosystems in Node.js/TypeScript that ingest, process, and store billions of GUI interaction events per day, leveraging AWS (EKS, Lambda, SQS, Kinesis, RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL) and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Collaborate daily with applied-research scientists to translate cutting-edge AI models (computer vision, NLP, reinforcement learning) into hardened, production-grade services that run in real time on customer web and desktop applications.
• Establish and evangelize best-practice engineering standards—code reviews, test automation, CI/CD pipelines, security guardrails, and observability—to raise the technical bar across the entire R&D organization.
• Act as a technical mentor to mid-level and junior engineers, conducting architecture reviews, pair-programming sessions, and brown-bag knowledge shares that cultivate a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
• Partner with Product Management, UX, and Customer Success to translate complex customer requirements into elegant backend solutions, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term platform vision.
• Continuously optimize cost and performance by tuning data pipelines, rewriting hot paths in Rust or Go when necessary, and leveraging spot-instance strategies that save six-figure cloud spend annually.
• Participate in an on-call rotation that follows follow-the-sun principles, using modern observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Datadog) to detect, triage, and resolve incidents before customers feel pain.
• Contribute to the open-source community by publishing reusable libraries, speaking at meetups, and authoring technical blog posts that showcase WalkMe’s thought leadership in AI and distributed systems.
• Champion security and compliance initiatives required for Federal customers—implementing FedRAMP controls, end-to-end encryption, and rigorous audit trails—while maintaining agile delivery cadences.
• Drive cross-team initiatives that integrate WalkMe’s backend with SAP’s enterprise ecosystem, exposing GraphQL and REST APIs that allow seamless data exchange with S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, and Fieldglass.
• Experiment fearlessly: spin up proof-of-concepts that test new paradigms such as edge-computing inference, WebAssembly sandboxing, or serverless stream processing, then socialize findings to influence product roadmap.
• Measure what matters—define SLIs/SLOs, instrument code, and build dashboards that give executives real-time visibility into adoption KPIs and system health, directly impacting revenue and customer satisfaction.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend development with at least 3 years in a technical-lead capacity, shipping high-scale services to production.
• Expert-level proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, including asynchronous programming, performance profiling, and memory management.
• Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems on AWS (EKS, Lambda, RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, SQS, Kinesis, CloudFormation/Terraform).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent from an accredited university.
• US citizenship required to support Federal customers and comply with security clearance prerequisites.
