• As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs. You will work with a talented team of engineers, data scientists, and product managers to translate complex healthcare needs into elegant and efficient software solutions.
• Your contributions will be critical in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our platform, which handles sensitive patient data and complex algorithmic processing. You will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from conceptualization and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Key responsibilities will include architecting microservices, developing data models, implementing business logic, and integrating with various third-party services and internal systems. You will also be expected to mentor junior engineers, contribute to code reviews, and champion best practices in software development, including agile methodologies, CI/CD, and test-driven development.
• You will collaborate closely with our data science and clinical teams to understand the intricacies of metabolic health and how our AI Digital Twin technology can best serve patients and healthcare providers. This involves translating complex analytical models and patient data into actionable insights and features within our platform.

• Designing, developing, and deploying robust, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs using languages like Python, Java, or Go.
• Building and optimizing data pipelines and database solutions (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra) to handle large volumes of complex health data.
• Implementing and maintaining microservices architecture, ensuring seamless communication and data flow between different components.
• Developing and integrating with machine learning models and AI algorithms that power our Digital Twin technology.
• Writing clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, adhering to industry best practices and coding standards.
• Collaborating with front-end developers to ensure seamless integration of backend services with user-facing applications.
• Participating in architectural discussions, code reviews, and technical design sessions to ensure the quality and maintainability of our codebase.
• Troubleshooting and debugging complex issues across the backend stack, ensuring high availability and performance of the platform.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of our development processes, including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting systems.
• Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
• Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and evaluating their potential application within Twin Health's technology stack.
• Ensuring compliance with healthcare data regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and implementing appropriate security measures to protect sensitive patient information.
• Working closely with product management to understand feature requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Contributing to the overall technical strategy and roadmap of the backend engineering team.
• Driving innovation by identifying opportunities for technical improvements and new feature development.
• Participating in on-call rotations to provide support for production systems.
• Proactively identifying and addressing potential performance bottlenecks and scalability challenges.
• Developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for APIs, services, and system architecture.
• Contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the engineering team.
• Ensuring the successful deployment and operation of our backend infrastructure in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Collaborating with QA engineers to define test strategies and ensure the quality of delivered software.
• Playing a key role in the evolution of our data platform, supporting advanced analytics and reporting capabilities.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development, with a strong focus on building scalable and robust systems.
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language such as Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Solid understanding of database technologies, including relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and CI/CD practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with healthcare data and/or HIPAA compliance is a plus.
• Experience with distributed systems and message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a plus.
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership.
