- • As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend at Dave, you will design and implement critical backend systems that power the company’s repayment and settlement infrastructure, directly enabling millions of financially underserved Americans to access fair, transparent, and timely financial services. Your work will be foundational to Dave’s mission of leveling the financial playing field by building reliable, scalable, and secure systems that handle real-time financial transactions at scale.
- • Day to day, you will design and implement backend services for repayment orchestration, payment processing, and settlement workflows; build scalable, observable, and resilient APIs and systems; collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to translate member needs into durable technical solutions; improve codebase health through refactoring, testing, and architectural improvements; participate in rigorous code reviews to uphold engineering standards; and investigate and resolve production issues while enhancing monitoring, logging, and system observability.

🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- • 4+ years of backend software engineering experience
- • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and backend services
- • Strong understanding of software design patterns, system architecture, and distributed systems fundamentals
- • Experience debugging and operating production systems
- • Comfort working in collaborative engineering environments with shared ownership of systems
