� Description

• • Architect and deliver the next generation of institutional-grade crypto infrastructure that will custody and move billions of dollars in digital assets for the world’s largest banks, hedge funds, and asset managers. Your code will directly power the secure rails that allow institutions to stake, trade, and govern on-chain with confidence.
• • Own the full lifecycle of backend services written in Golang—from whiteboard to production—while setting the technical bar for scalability, reliability, and security. You’ll design zero-downtime systems that handle real-time, high-frequency updates and sub-second latency at web scale.
• • Translate complex product requirements into elegant, fault-tolerant architectures. You’ll work closely with product managers, designers, and senior leadership to craft quarterly roadmaps that balance rapid feature delivery with long-term platform health.
• • Build and harden containerized microservices that run on our globally distributed, cloud-native infrastructure. You’ll leverage Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines to ensure every deployment is repeatable, observable, and secure.
• • Pioneer new crypto-forward capabilities such as staking orchestration, governance participation, and Web3 gateway APIs. You’ll stay on the leading edge of blockchain protocols and integrate them into institutional workflows without compromising compliance or safety.
• • Champion engineering excellence through rigorous code reviews, comprehensive test coverage, and blameless post-mortems. You’ll mentor junior engineers and raise the collective quality bar across the Institutional Product Group.
• • Collaborate cross-functionally with security, compliance, and infrastructure teams to embed best practices for key management, audit trails, and regulatory reporting directly into the codebase.
• • Monitor, profile, and optimize critical paths that affect transaction throughput, API latency, and cost efficiency. You’ll turn data-driven insights into actionable improvements that keep our platform ahead of exponential growth.
• • Contribute to open-source initiatives and internal libraries that the broader Coinbase engineering community depends on, amplifying your impact beyond a single team or product line.
• • Shape the culture of a remote-first organization by documenting architectural decisions, running inclusive design reviews, and fostering psychological safety so bold ideas can flourish.

� Requirements

• • 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience, including production services at web scale
• • Expert-level proficiency in Golang or demonstrable ability to become productive quickly in Go
• • Proven track record designing and operating secure, low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems
• • Deep familiarity with cloud-native technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP, and infrastructure-as-code
• • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with blockchain protocols, custody solutions, or financial-services compliance frameworks
