• Are you driven by a mission to reshape the global financial system and increase economic freedom? Coinbase is seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Platform - Onboarding) to join our dynamic team and contribute to building the future of the emerging onchain platform.
• This role is pivotal in empowering Coinbase to rapidly launch new products and expand into new global markets while rigorously adhering to compliance and regulatory requirements. You will be instrumental in crafting the foundational elements that enable seamless and secure user journeys.
• As part of the Platform Product Group, you will contribute to building a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform that operates with exceptional speed, efficiency, and quality. This group is responsible for the critical platforms that underpin Coinbase's existence, encompassing areas like Identity, Payments, Risk, Onboarding & KYC, Finhub, Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure.
• The Onboarding Platform team, specifically, is tasked with developing robust solutions for user onboarding and Know Your Customer (KYC) processes. Your work will directly impact our ability to scale our services globally and enhance user conversion funnels.
• You will be responsible for building new backend services using Golang, designed to meet critical product and business needs. This involves architecting scalable systems capable of solving complex, novel problems using modern cloud technologies and adhering to industry best practices.
• A key aspect of this role is articulating and driving a long-term technical vision for the maintenance and scaling of our backend systems, as well as the teams that manage them. You will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate our product and technical vision into a concrete, actionable roadmap each quarter.
• You will be expected to write high-quality, well-tested code that directly addresses customer needs. This includes tackling and resolving extremely difficult technical challenges, and improving systems and products to enhance their functionality, ease of deployment, ownership, operation, and diagnosis.
• A significant responsibility will be reviewing all feature designs within your product area and across cross-cutting company projects. You will own the security, safety, scalability, operational integrity, and architectural clarity of these designs, ensuring they align with Coinbase's high standards.
• You will contribute to improving the conversion funnels for both user onboarding and Monthly Transacting Users (MTU) on a global scale, optimizing the user experience from the very first interaction.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
• Strong experience in composing service-oriented architectures and a deep understanding of modern cloud technologies and industry best practices.
• Proficiency in Golang for building backend services, coupled with a strong ability to write high-quality, well-tested code.
• Passion for building an open financial system and a belief in the power of crypto and blockchain technology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated bias toward open and transparent cultural practices.
