📋 Description

• As a Senior Software Engineer at NerdWallet, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems while providing technical leadership within a team. Your work will directly impact how business stakeholders make data-driven decisions by improving partner ingestion systems and building pricing engines that ingest data from hundreds of partners.
• You will architect scalable and efficient solutions for partner data ingestions, pricing pipelines, data visibility dashboards, investigation automation, and data quality alerts—ensuring systems meet functional and non-functional requirements like performance, security, and maintainability.
• Day to day, you will write high-quality, scalable, and efficient code in languages such as React, Python, Java, or JavaScript; review and optimize existing code; conduct thorough testing; troubleshoot complex issues; and mentor junior developers to foster a culture of continuous learning and best practices.
• You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and QA professionals to align technical solutions with business objectives, contribute to architectural decisions, evaluate new technologies, and drive innovation within the organization.
• You will use observability and monitoring tools to proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve production issues quickly, while helping drive engineering values around continuous improvement, failing fast, and repairing faster.
• You will partner with management to continuously develop the engineering roadmap for the team and serve as a mentor to engineers, enabling growth and knowledge sharing across the team.

• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, DevOps/CI/CD pipelines, and data-intensive applications while gaining experience in consumer finance domains like credit, lending, and insurance.
• You will have the opportunity to lead technical initiatives that eliminate manual workflows (e.g., replacing Google Sheets-based pricing systems), improve data reliability through advanced alerting and quality checks, and build self-serve tools that empower stakeholders across the organization.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years in full-stack software engineering with a strong background in backend development and distributed systems
• Proficiency in programming languages such as React, Python, Java, JavaScript, or others based on the stack
• Experience with tools and frameworks including Apache Airflow, Snowflake, Monte Carlo, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
