- • Senior Software Engineer on Reddit’s Compute Platform team, responsible for building and maintaining the foundational infrastructure that powers one of the internet’s largest platforms, serving over 126 million daily active users across 100,000+ communities.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and delivering software solutions in Go to improve availability, scalability, and latency; developing Kubernetes controllers and operators for automated cluster management; building core tooling and SDKs for multi-cloud network configurations and compute capacity tracking; optimizing intra-cluster performance via reactive schedulers and node-level analysis; collaborating organization-wide to automate workflows; and participating in an on-call rotation (~1 week every 8-9 weeks) to ensure global system stability.
- • The Compute Platform team operates as a group of generalists at the intersection of infrastructure and software development, enabling Reddit’s global fleet across multiple cloud providers with a focus on performance, resource efficiency, and hardware management including GPUs.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, Kubernetes operators, Go-based infrastructure tooling, and Linux internals (cgroups, namespaces), while making a direct impact on the reliability and efficiency of systems that serve hundreds of millions of users—growing as a technical leader in a high-scale, collaborative environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years of experience developing internet-scale software with a heavy focus on infrastructure and distributed systems
- • Proficient in Go with a proven track record of building and managing Kubernetes services at scale
- • Expert knowledge of Linux internals, including multi-tenancy primitives like cgroups and namespaces
- • Contributor to the open-source community, ideally within infrastructure or CNCF domains
- • Self-starter capable of troubleshooting complex cross-system issues and managing large projects independently
- • Excellent communicator thriving in collaborative, service-oriented environments
