- • Collaborate with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across platforms using Speechify’s cross-platform SDK.
- • Optimize existing functionality to improve performance metrics such as faster loading times and more intelligent parsing by designing efficient abstractions and enhancing core algorithms.
- • Design, build, and ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to develop foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s core user experience across all platforms.
- • Prioritize simplicity and reliability in system design, ensuring APIs are clear, maintainable, and directly enhance the end-user experience.
- • Apply systems thinking to solve problems end-to-end, balancing technical depth with product needs and user impact.
- • Work autonomously in a high-growth, remote environment, knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to focus deeply on individual tasks.
- • Partner effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers to align technical execution with business and user goals.
- • Contribute to a product that transforms how people consume information, particularly supporting users with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture that values intuition, risk-taking, and hustle while maintaining a hands-off management approach to enable maximum autonomy.

🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Strong systems thinking and ability to design end-to-end solutions with simplicity and reliability as priorities
- • Experience shipping cloud functions, backend services, or jobs using Kotlin
- • Proven ability to work autonomously in a remote, high-growth startup environment
- • Experience collaborating with product, design, and marketing teams to balance technical tradeoffs with user needs
- • Prior experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus
