- • Design new user journeys, features, and products for Reedsy’s marketplace platform serving 5 million authors, working directly with founders, the Lead Designer, and engineering teams.
- • Contribute to maintaining and evolving existing applications by refining interfaces, improving usability, and ensuring consistency across all digital touchpoints.
- • Design and maintain the components, UI patterns, and documentation for Reedsy’s design system and component library to ensure scalable and cohesive product experiences.
- • Develop at least some of the front-end code for your designs, collaborating closely with engineers to ensure pixel-perfect and functional implementation.
- • Apply strong knowledge of interaction design, information architecture, and visual design principles to solve complex user problems and simplify workflows for authors and publishing professionals.
- • Maintain a critical eye for detail in every design deliverable, from wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes, ensuring alignment with brand standards and user needs.
- • Communicate design decisions clearly and effectively to cross-functional teams, using storytelling and data-informed reasoning to advocate for user-centered solutions.
- • Work remotely as part of a distributed team, managing your own schedule while maintaining high responsiveness and alignment with global colleagues.
- • Participate in user research synthesis and usability testing feedback loops to inform iterative design improvements.
- • Translate business goals and technical constraints into intuitive, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing interfaces that enhance the author’s publishing experience.
- • Stay current with evolving design trends, tools, and accessibility standards, and apply insights to continuously elevate Reedsy’s product quality.
- • Collaborate across departments to ensure design consistency across multiple products within the Reedsy ecosystem, including author-facing tools and professional service marketplaces.
- • Document design rationale, component usage, and design system updates to enable seamless handoff and adoption by internal teams and external contractors.
- • Advocate for user-centered design practices across the organization, helping to embed design thinking into product development cycles.
- • Balance creative freedom with operational constraints, delivering high-quality outputs within agile timelines without compromising usability or visual integrity.
- • Engage with a global community of authors and publishing professionals to understand diverse needs and design inclusive experiences.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience as a UX/UI designer with ability to implement (some of) your own designs
- • Knowledge of design tools such as Sketch or Figma
- • Strong knowledge of interaction design, information architecture, and visual design principles
- • A portfolio of design work
- • Perfectly fluent in English with great communication skills
- • Experience working remotely
