- • Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, navigate integration and UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via the cross-platform SDK.
- • Optimize existing functionality to improve performance, including faster loading and more intelligent parsing, by designing more efficient abstractions and enhancing algorithms.
- • Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to build and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across all platforms.
- • Design clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance the user experience.
- • Apply systems thinking to solve problems with end-to-end design, prioritizing simplicity and long-term maintainability.
- • Work quickly to generate ideas, evaluate options, and determine what can ship immediately versus what requires further development.
- • Maintain focus in a high-growth, remote startup environment by knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently.
- • Collaborate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers to inspire, negotiate, and align on technical solutions.
- • Contribute to a product that transforms how people access information, particularly supporting users with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Operate within a hands-off management structure that empowers autonomy and deep focus to produce high-quality work.
- • Build in a fast-growing sector at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio, contributing to a market-leading product used by millions.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Experience building and maintaining cross-platform SDKs
- • Strong systems thinking and ability to design end-to-end solutions with simplicity as a priority
- • Proven ability to ship cloud functions, backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
- • Experience working in a fast-paced, remote startup environment with asynchronous collaboration
- • Ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, and marketing teams to navigate tradeoffs and deliver user-centric solutions
