- • Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, navigate integration and UX tradeoffs across platforms, and deliver solutions via the company’s cross-platform SDK.
- • Optimize existing functionality to improve performance metrics such as faster loading times and more intelligent parsing by designing more efficient abstractions and enhancing core algorithms.
- • Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin as the primary development language.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to build and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s core user experience across all platforms.
- • Design clear, reliable, and scalable APIs that directly enhance the user experience while maintaining system simplicity and reliability.
- • Apply systems thinking to solve problems with end-to-end design, prioritizing simplicity and long-term maintainability over short-term fixes.
- • Work quickly to generate ideas, evaluate options, and determine which features can ship immediately versus those requiring further iteration.
- • Maintain focus in a high-growth, remote startup environment by knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently with deep concentration.
- • Collaborate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers to inspire, negotiate, and align on technical and product priorities.
- • Contribute to a product that transforms how people consume information, particularly supporting users with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Operate in a fast-growing sector at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio technology, helping shape the future of accessible information consumption.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Experience building and maintaining cross-platform SDKs and foundational services
- • Strong systems thinking and ability to design end-to-end solutions with simplicity as a priority
- • Proven ability to ship code quickly while making sound tradeoffs between speed and quality
- • Experience working in a remote, high-growth startup environment with asynchronous collaboration
- • Experience with cloud functions and lightweight backend services
