- • Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration and UX tradeoffs across platforms using the cross-platform SDK.
- • Design and implement more efficient abstractions and algorithms to optimize existing functionality, including faster loading times and more intelligent parsing of content.
- • Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to build and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s core product experience across all platforms.
- • Prioritize simplicity and reliability in system design, ensuring APIs are clear, maintainable, and directly enhance user experience.
- • Apply systems thinking to solve problems end-to-end, balancing technical depth with product needs and user impact.
- • Work quickly to generate ideas, evaluate options, and determine what can ship immediately versus what requires further refinement.
- • Maintain focus in a high-growth, remote startup environment by knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently.
- • Partner effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers through inspiration, negotiation, and constructive collaboration.
- • Contribute to a life-changing product used by millions to support individuals with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Operate within a hands-off management culture that emphasizes autonomy, trust, and high-impact work.
- • Help shape the future of an AI-audio startup at the forefront of transforming how people consume information.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Strong systems thinking and ability to design end-to-end solutions with simplicity and reliability as priorities
- • Proven experience shipping cloud functions, backend services, or jobs using Kotlin
- • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, remote startup environment with high autonomy
- • Experience collaborating with product, design, and marketing teams to balance technical and user experience tradeoffs
- • Prior experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus
