- • Collaborate with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across platforms using Speechify’s cross-platform SDK.
- • Design and implement efficient abstractions and improved algorithms to optimize existing functionality, including faster loading times and more intelligent parsing of content.
- • Develop and ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to build and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s core user experience across all platforms.
- • Prioritize simplicity and reliability in system design, ensuring APIs are clear, maintainable, and directly enhance the end-user experience.
- • Apply systems thinking to solve problems with end-to-end design, balancing technical depth with product needs and user impact.
- • Work quickly to generate ideas, evaluate options, and determine which features can ship immediately versus those requiring further iteration.
- • Maintain focus in a high-growth, remote startup environment by knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently with deep concentration.
- • Partner effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers through inspiration, negotiation, and constructive collaboration.
- • Contribute to a product that transforms how people access information, particularly supporting users with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Operate within a hands-off management culture that emphasizes autonomy, trust, and asynchronous work to enable peak performance.
- • Build in a fast-growing sector at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio, helping shape the future of accessible information consumption.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Strong systems thinking and ability to design end-to-end solutions with simplicity and reliability as priorities
- • Experience shipping cloud functions, backend services, or jobs using Kotlin
- • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, and marketing teams in a fast-paced startup environment
- • Demonstrated speed in ideation, decision-making, and execution while balancing quality and velocity
- • Focus and self-direction to thrive in a remote, high-growth startup with minimal supervision
