- • Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration and UX tradeoffs across platforms using the cross-platform SDK.
- • Design and implement more efficient abstractions and algorithms to optimize existing functionality, including faster loading times and more intelligent parsing of content.
- • Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to build and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s core user experience across all platforms.
- • Translate product goals into technical solutions by balancing simplicity, reliability, and performance in system design.
- • Engage with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers to inspire, negotiate, and align on technical execution while maintaining focus on user impact.
- • Prioritize tasks effectively in a high-growth startup environment, knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently with deep focus.
- • Contribute to the development of systems that enable millions of users to access information through audio, particularly supporting individuals with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Improve the scalability and maintainability of core systems by applying systems thinking and advocating for end-to-end design that values simplicity over complexity.
- • Rapidly generate and evaluate technical options, making clear decisions on what can ship immediately versus what requires further iteration.
- • Work within an asynchronous, remote-first culture that emphasizes autonomy, trust, and high-quality output without micromanagement.
- • Build and enhance tools that sit at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio technology, contributing to a transformative product category.
- • Ensure the reliability and performance of SDKs that serve as the backbone of Speechify’s product experience on web, mobile, and cloud platforms.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Experience building and maintaining cross-platform SDKs and foundational services
- • Strong systems thinking and ability to design end-to-end solutions with simplicity and reliability as priorities
- • Proven ability to ship cloud functions and lightweight backend services
- • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments with remote teams
- • Ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, and marketing teams to align technical execution with user needs
