- • Collaborate with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across platforms using Speechify’s cross-platform SDK.
- • Design and implement more efficient abstractions and algorithms to optimize existing functionality, including faster loading times and more intelligent parsing of content.
- • Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to build and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s core user experience across all platforms.
- • Prioritize simplicity and reliability in system design, ensuring APIs are clear, maintainable, and directly enhance the end-user experience.
- • Balance speed and focus in a high-growth startup environment, knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently with deep focus.
- • Partner with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers to inspire, negotiate, and align on technical solutions that serve both user needs and business goals.
- • Contribute to a cross-platform development environment where Kotlin Multiplatform is the primary technology, with Java experience accepted as a baseline.
- • Improve system performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing scalable, efficient solutions that support exponential user growth.
- • Build systems that enable Speechify to deliver audio information from web articles, cloud documents, and mobile books with minimal latency and maximum accessibility.
- • Support a remote, asynchronous team culture by communicating effectively, managing priorities independently, and delivering high-quality work without constant oversight.
- • Contribute to a product that directly impacts users with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism by making information more accessible through audio.
- • Work in a fast-growing sector at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio technology, helping define the future of information consumption.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Experience building and maintaining cross-platform SDKs and foundational services
- • Strong systems thinking with a focus on end-to-end design and simplicity
- • Ability to ship high-quality code quickly while prioritizing impactful features
- • Experience with cloud functions and lightweight backend services
- • Collaborative mindset with experience working alongside product, design, and marketing teams
