- • Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration and UX tradeoffs across platforms using the cross-platform SDK.
- • Design and implement more efficient abstractions and algorithms to optimize existing functionality, including faster loading times and more intelligent parsing of content.
- • Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to build and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s core user experience across all platforms.
- • Prioritize simplicity and reliability in API and system design to directly enhance user experience and enable seamless integration with product teams.
- • Balance strategic thinking with rapid execution, identifying which features can ship immediately versus those requiring longer-term development.
- • Engage effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers to inspire collaboration, negotiate priorities, and align technical solutions with product goals.
- • Maintain a high degree of focus in a fast-growing, remote startup environment, knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently with deep concentration.
- • Contribute to a system that enables millions of users to access information through audio, including individuals with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Work in a high-growth tech sector at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio, shaping a product that transforms how people consume information.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Strong systems thinking and ability to design end-to-end solutions with simplicity and reliability as priorities
- • Proven ability to ship cloud functions, backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
- • Experience working in a fast-paced, remote startup environment with cross-functional teams
- • Demonstrated skill in balancing speed and focus, knowing when to iterate quickly versus when to invest in long-term architecture
- • Ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, and marketing teams to align technical work with user needs
