- • Collaborate with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across platforms using Speechify’s cross-platform SDK.
- • Design and implement more efficient abstractions and algorithms to optimize existing functionality, including faster loading times and more intelligent parsing of content.
- • Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to build and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s core user experience across all platforms.
- • Prioritize simplicity and reliability in API design and system architecture to directly enhance the end-user experience.
- • Apply systems thinking to solve problems with end-to-end design, balancing technical depth with user-centric outcomes.
- • Work quickly to generate ideas, evaluate options, and determine what can ship immediately versus what requires further iteration.
- • Maintain focus in a high-growth, remote startup environment by knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently.
- • Collaborate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers to align on technical solutions and product direction.
- • Contribute to a product that transforms how people consume information, particularly supporting users with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Operate within a hands-off management structure that empowers autonomy and deep focus to deliver high-quality work.
- • Help shape the future of an industry at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio, contributing to a #1 ranked product in its category.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Strong systems thinking and ability to design end-to-end solutions with simplicity and reliability
- • Experience shipping cloud functions, backend services, or background jobs
- • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, remote startup environment with cross-functional teams
- • Experience optimizing performance through algorithmic improvements and efficient abstractions
- • Prior experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus
