- • Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration and UX tradeoffs across platforms using the cross-platform SDK.
- • Design and implement more efficient abstractions and algorithms to optimize existing functionality, including faster loading times and more intelligent parsing of content.
- • Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to build and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s core user experience across all platforms.
- • Prioritize simplicity and reliability in API design and system architecture to directly enhance the end-user experience.
- • Apply systems thinking to solve problems with end-to-end design, balancing long-term maintainability with rapid iteration needs.
- • Work quickly to generate multiple solutions, evaluate tradeoffs, and determine what can ship immediately versus what requires further refinement.
- • Maintain focus in a high-growth, remote startup environment by knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently with deep concentration.
- • Partner effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers through inspiration, negotiation, and respectful collaboration.
- • Contribute to a product that transforms how people consume information, particularly supporting users with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Operate within a hands-off management culture that emphasizes autonomy, trust, and high-impact work.
- • Help shape the future of an AI and audio-driven product category that is experiencing exponential growth and is #1 in its market segment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Experience building and maintaining cross-platform SDKs and foundational services
- • Strong systems thinking and ability to design end-to-end solutions with simplicity and reliability
- • Proven ability to ship code quickly while making sound tradeoff decisions between speed and quality
- • Experience working in fast-paced, remote startup environments with asynchronous collaboration
- • Prior experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus
