- • Collaborate with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across platforms using Speechify’s cross-platform SDK.
- • Optimize existing functionality to improve performance, including faster loading times and more intelligent parsing, by designing efficient abstractions and enhancing core algorithms.
- • Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Design and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across all platforms.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to ensure systems are simple, reliable, and directly enhance user experience.
- • Apply systems thinking to solve problems with end-to-end design, prioritizing simplicity and long-term maintainability.
- • Work quickly to generate ideas, evaluate options, and determine what can ship immediately versus what requires further development.
- • Maintain focus in a high-growth, remote startup environment by knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently.
- • Collaborate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers through inspiration, negotiation, and constructive dialogue.
- • Contribute to a product that transforms how users consume information, particularly supporting individuals with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Build and improve systems in a fast-growing sector at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio technology.
- • Operate within a hands-off management structure that empowers autonomy and deep focus to deliver high-quality work.

🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Strong systems thinking and ability to design end-to-end solutions with simplicity as a priority
- • Experience shipping cloud functions, backend services, or jobs in a production environment
- • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, remote startup environment with asynchronous collaboration
- • Experience collaborating with product, design, and marketing teams to balance technical and user needs
- • Prior experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus
