- • Collaborate with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across platforms using Speechify’s cross-platform SDK.
- • Design and implement more efficient abstractions and algorithms to optimize existing functionality, including faster loading times and more intelligent parsing of content.
- • Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to build and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s core user experience across all platforms.
- • Translate user needs into technical solutions by balancing simplicity, reliability, and performance in API and system design.
- • Engage with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers to inspire, negotiate, and align on technical direction while maintaining focus on user impact.
- • Prioritize and execute work in a high-growth startup environment with a remote, asynchronous team, knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently.
- • Contribute to a product that transforms how people consume information, particularly supporting users with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Drive systems thinking by designing end-to-end solutions that prioritize simplicity and long-term maintainability over short-term fixes.
- • Rapidly generate and evaluate technical options, making clear decisions on what can ship immediately versus what requires further iteration.
- • Build and enhance tools that enable millions of users to listen to web articles, cloud documents, and books at their own pace and with improved accessibility.

🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Strong systems thinking and ability to design end-to-end, simple, and reliable software architectures
- • Experience shipping cloud functions, backend services, or jobs using Kotlin
- • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, and marketing teams in a fast-paced startup environment
- • Demonstrated speed in generating technical options and making prioritization decisions
- • Focus and discipline to thrive in a remote, asynchronous, high-growth team setting
