- • Collaborate with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across platforms using Speechify’s cross-platform SDK.
- • Design and implement more efficient abstractions and algorithms to optimize existing functionality, including faster loading times and more intelligent parsing of content.
- • Develop, ship, and maintain cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to build and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s core user experience across all platforms.
- • Prioritize simplicity and reliability in system design, ensuring APIs are clear, maintainable, and directly enhance the end-user experience.
- • Apply systems thinking to solve problems end-to-end, balancing technical depth with product needs and user impact.
- • Work in a high-growth startup environment with a remote team, knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to focus deeply on individual tasks.
- • Partner with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers to inspire, negotiate, and align on technical solutions that serve both user needs and business goals.
- • Contribute to a product that transforms how people consume information, particularly supporting users with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.

🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with direct experience in Kotlin Multiplatform being preferred
- • Demonstrated ability to design and ship scalable, reliable APIs and foundational systems
- • Strong systems thinking with a focus on end-to-end design and simplicity
- • Experience developing cloud functions, backend services, or background jobs
- • Proven track record of collaborating effectively with product, design, and marketing teams
