• • As a Senior Software Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and operating the foundational data infrastructure that underpins all of Coinbase's internal and third-party data needs.
• • Your work will directly impact how easily and efficiently teams across the company can access, process, and transform data for critical functions such as analytics, machine learning model development, and powering end-user experiences.
• • You will be responsible for the full spectrum of our data systems, from managing the core components of our data lake and cloud data warehouse to building and maintaining robust, scalable data pipelines.
• • This includes developing and enhancing our orchestration tools, such as Airflow, and optimizing batch processing frameworks like Spark and SQL.
• • You will also contribute to our real-time data capabilities, working with streaming services like Kafka and developing solutions for time-series databases, graph databases, and real-time event aggregation.
• • A key aspect of your role will involve building and maintaining data integration and process SDKs, enabling seamless data flow and utilization by internal services and product teams throughout Coinbase.
• • You will have the opportunity to design and build self-service applications, empowering our users (data analysts, ML engineers, etc.) to manage and troubleshoot their own data pipelines, thereby increasing operational efficiency and autonomy.
• • Furthermore, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing services for end-to-end data security and observability, ensuring the integrity, quality, and compliance of our data assets.
• • This includes designing and building systems for managing access controls across various storage and access layers, implementing data quality monitoring, cataloging datasets and their lineage, and developing comprehensive usage auditing capabilities.
• • You will translate complex functional requests from data analysts, ML engineers, and security & compliance teams into reusable, scalable architectural patterns.
• • Your expertise will be crucial in assembling data microservices into cohesive and powerful data platforms tailored for critical business verticals and specific user cohorts.
