📋 Description

• As a Senior Software Engineer on the Developer Experience (DevEx) team at Harvey AI, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the company’s rapid growth by building the foundational platforms and tools that allow hundreds of engineers to ship AI-powered features quickly, safely, and at scale. Your work directly impacts the velocity and reliability of Harvey’s engineering organization, making you a force multiplier across the entire company.
• You will design, develop, and scale a world-class developer platform that includes robust CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and consistent development environments, ensuring that engineers can focus on innovation rather than infrastructure friction.
• You will pioneer the integration of AI agents into the software development lifecycle — from code generation and testing to deployment and monitoring — helping define what AI-native software engineering looks like in practice.
• You will collaborate closely with backend platform teams to embed testability, observability, and reliability into core services, ensuring that systems built on Harvey’s foundation are maintainable, performant, and production-ready.
• You will act as a technical leader and mentor, guiding architectural decisions, upholding engineering excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across teams through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• You will gather feedback from engineering teams to refine the "paved road" — the set of recommended tools, practices, and workflows — making it easier for everyone to adopt best practices and move fast with confidence.
• You will help shape the strategic roadmap for Developer Experience as Harvey scales globally, contributing to planning, prioritization, and cross-functional alignment to support long-term engineering velocity.
• You will build and maintain load testing and benchmarking infrastructure to evaluate and optimize the performance of AI-native applications under real-world conditions, ensuring scalability and responsiveness.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record in building scalable backend systems, internal developer platforms, or platform-level infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Python (or similar languages) and deep understanding of backend development, distributed systems, and software architecture principles.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., Buildkite, GitHub Actions), test frameworks, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive architectural decisions that improve team productivity and code quality.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across teams to gather feedback, evangelize best practices, and influence adoption of standardized workflows.
• Passion for improving developer experience — a history of creating tools, frameworks, or automation that significantly boost engineering efficiency and satisfaction.
