- • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance JavaScript SDKs that integrate with modern frameworks including React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt, NestJS, and Hono, ensuring seamless error and performance monitoring for millions of developers.
- • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of SDK features—from ideation and architecture to implementation, testing, and documentation—ensuring clarity and usability for both internal teams and external users.
- • Leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and focus on solving complex problems in developer tooling, improving code quality and reducing manual overhead without compromising reliability.
- • Contribute directly to open-source initiatives by collaborating with industry groups such as TC39 and the OpenTelemetry SIG, representing Sentry in shaping future JavaScript standards and best practices.
- • Work closely with Customer Operations to triage, debug, and resolve critical issues reported by users on GitHub and other public channels, ensuring rapid response to high-impact production bugs.
- • Engage with the global developer community through conferences and online platforms, gathering feedback and translating real-world usage patterns into product improvements.
- • Maintain a deep understanding of rendering models, lifecycle events, and runtime behaviors across frontend and server-side JavaScript frameworks to ensure SDKs function correctly in diverse environments.
- • Write and review robust unit and integration tests to guarantee SDK reliability across multiple framework versions and configurations.
- • Produce clear, comprehensive documentation that empowers developers to adopt and effectively use Sentry’s JavaScript SDKs, reducing onboarding friction and support overhead.
- • Advocate for developer-centric design principles, building tools that are not only functional but intuitive and delightful to use, prioritizing usability alongside technical excellence.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align SDK capabilities with evolving industry trends, including edge computing, server components, and hybrid rendering patterns.
- • Stay current with advancements in the JavaScript ecosystem, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance SDKs with new framework features, language updates, and emerging runtime environments.
- • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and team retrospectives to foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the JavaScript SDK team.
- • Represent Sentry as a thought leader in the developer tools space by contributing to public blog posts, talks, and open-source projects that elevate the broader JavaScript community.
🎯 Requirements
- • At least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, web developer, or a similar role
- • Deep expertise in developing web applications, libraries, or SDKs using TypeScript/JavaScript
- • Hands-on experience with two or more modern JavaScript frameworks—such as React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt, NestJS, or Hono—and a strong understanding of their rendering models, lifecycles, and runtime environments
- • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
- • Based in San Francisco (Bay Area) or excited about relocating to this region
