- • Own the full development lifecycle: translate product specs into technical designs, write clean C# services, craft pixel-perfect React components, and shepherd releases through automated CI/CD pipelines to production.
- • Collaborate daily with product managers, UX designers, and insurance-licensed agents to build mobile-first web apps that let car buyers compare 40+ carriers and bind coverage in under two minutes—right in the dealership showroom.
- • Champion code quality by leading rigorous pull-request reviews, instituting unit/integration test coverage above 80%, and mentoring junior engineers through pair programming and lunch-and-learn sessions.
- • Evolve our event-driven architecture—leveraging SQL Server, Redis, and serverless functions—to ingest real-time quote data and deliver sub-second pricing updates to thousands of concurrent users.
- • Design resilient RESTful APIs that integrate with dealer DMS systems, carrier rating engines, and call-center CRMs while meeting SOC-2 security and PCI compliance standards.
- • Optimize performance across the stack: profile .NET services for memory leaks, lazy-load React bundles, and tune SQL queries that currently handle 2 million quote requests per day.
- • Experiment fearlessly—prototype in Node or PHP when the use-case demands, spike new GraphQL endpoints, or pilot progressive-web-app features that work offline on showroom tablets.
- • Contribute to Polly’s open-source style guide and shared UI component library, ensuring every new screen feels unmistakably “Polly” on devices ranging from 4-inch phones to 86-inch dealership kiosks.
- • Drive observability initiatives by instrumenting distributed tracing, structured logging, and real-time alerting so the team detects anomalies before a single shopper feels a delay.
- • Act as a technical liaison during quarterly business reviews with dealership partners, translating engineering trade-offs into business impact and influencing the 12-month product roadmap.
- • Uphold Polly’s culture of resilience and action: when Black Friday traffic spikes 10×, you calmly scale Kubernetes pods, throttle non-critical jobs, and celebrate another record-breaking weekend with the team.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years professional software engineering with at least 3 years building production-grade applications in the Microsoft .NET stack (C#, ASP.NET MVC, Web APIs) and SQL Server or equivalent relational databases.
- • Demonstrated expertise in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and React, including hooks, context, and state-management patterns—plus a portfolio of responsive, accessible web applications.
- • Deep understanding of RESTful API design, HTTP protocols, and asynchronous programming; experience with unit testing, Git workflows, and continuous integration/delivery.
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; strong CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- • Nice-to-have: prior work on progressive web apps, exposure to Node, PHP, or another backend language, and familiarity with insurance or fintech compliance standards.
