- • As a Senior Software Engineer II at Forma Inc., you will play a pivotal role in building and shipping high-quality, secure, and scalable backend systems that power flexible employee benefits solutions used by industry leaders like Stripe, Zoom, and Lululemon. Your work directly impacts how companies design inclusive benefits programs and how employees access and utilize their allowances, driving both business success and meaningful user outcomes.
- • You will release new product features and maintain existing services, ensuring reliability, performance, and alignment with product vision while working within a remote-first, collaborative engineering culture that values innovation and continuous improvement.
- • You will build secure, performant, and easy-to-use backend APIs and database designs using Kotlin, Node.js, TypeScript, and related technologies, with clear documentation and adherence to engineering best practices, all deployed on GCP and Kubernetes infrastructure.
- • You will help improve engineering processes and standards by contributing to code reviews, advocating for scalability and security, and leading initiatives that enhance team efficiency and product quality through mentorship and process refinement.
- • You will collaborate closely with product, design, and infrastructure teams to solve complex business problems involving financial transactions, data integrity, and user experience, integrating with third-party platforms like Stripe and Plaid to enable seamless fund access via the Forma Store, Visa Card, or reimbursement workflows.
- • You will contribute to a product-driven engineering culture where technical excellence is balanced with user impact, helping shape the future of flexible benefits through innovation in fintech-adjacent systems and scalable SaaS architecture.
- • You will have the opportunity to grow your expertise in cloud-native development, financial systems engineering, and API design while working on a product that serves nearly a million employees and maintains industry-leading satisfaction scores (98% CSAT, 75 NPS).
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Kotlin, Node.js, and/or TypeScript, including hands-on experience building and maintaining production-grade APIs.
- • Solid understanding of both relational and NoSQL databases, with practical experience in data modeling, query optimization, and ensuring data integrity in financial or transactional systems.
- • Proven experience working in agile environments, including leading or owning projects from conception through deployment, with a track record of delivering complex features on time and with high quality.
- • Familiarity with GCP and/or Kubernetes for deploying and managing scalable microservices, including experience with containerization, observability, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
- • Experience integrating with third-party financial platforms such as Stripe, Plaid, or similar payment and identity verification systems is highly preferred.
- • Background in fintech, healthtech, or employee benefits technology is a strong plus, particularly if you’ve worked on systems involving regulated transactions, reimbursements, or spending accounts.
