📋 Description

• Architect and build core workflows, hooks, and services within the Shared AI Tooling Layer (SATL) to deeply integrate off-the-shelf LLMs into the engineering environment.
• Lead technical scouting and prototyping by continuously researching, evaluating, and testing rapid advancements in AI developer tooling—including new LLM APIs, agentic orchestration, context-management protocols, and IDE integrations—to identify viable platform-level adoption opportunities and filter out hype.
• Design, scale, and maintain the shared foundation of SATL for distributing and managing AI tool configurations, establishing a reliable and performant framework for shared rules, skills, lifecycle hooks, and MCP configurations across developer environments.
• Build safe execution environments by creating runtime guardrails, permission scoping, and sandbox patterns that enable secure, programmatic modifications to the codebase.
• Architect platform observability systems that track automated tooling interactions, token consumption, and execution paths to provide visibility into AI-driven contributions.
• Establish infrastructure to measure the quality and impact of automated contributions, including analyzing automated PR success rates, to inform platform roadmap decisions.
• Collaborate closely with the DX (Developer Experience) team to complement their focus on repository health and codebase standards by building intelligent context, guardrails, and integrations that allow automated assistants to understand what and how to build safely.
• Partner with platform, security, and developer infrastructure stakeholders to align automation guardrails, security baselines, and developer-facing APIs across PED.
• Maintain a pragmatic, evidence-based approach to evaluating emerging technical architectures, prioritizing real architectural progress over marketing-driven trends.
• Design clean, extensible abstractions and APIs that are reliably consumable by both human engineers and automated scripts.
• Drive technical alignment and platform adoption across a 300+ person organization through empathy, clear evidence, and Engineering Design Doc (EDD)-driven collaboration.
• Adapt proactively to rapidly evolving developer tooling landscapes, leading teams through technical uncertainty with initiative and clarity.
• Extend developer-facing AI tools by designing custom CLI helpers, building integrations, and creating Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.
• Work extensively with LLM APIs to build system prompts and orchestrate stateful programmatic workflows.
• Develop primarily in TypeScript and Node.js, with expert-level proficiency in shell scripting and CLI tooling.
• Contribute to a platform used by over 50% of the Fortune 500, including 7 of the Fortune 10, to enhance audit, risk, ESG, and InfoSec workflows through AI-powered developer tooling.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a solid history of building internal developer platforms, developer tools, or shared API infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience building with or extending developer-facing AI tools (such as designing custom CLI helpers, building developer integrations, or creating Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers).
• Substantial hands-on experience working with LLM APIs, building system prompts, and orchestrating stateful programmatic workflows.
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, combined with expert-level comfort writing shell scripting and building CLI tooling.
• Proven expertise in critically evaluating emerging technical architectures, bypassing marketing hype, and making pragmatic, evidence-based recommendations on tooling adoption.
• Strong architectural instinct for designing clean, extensible abstractions and APIs that other developers (and automated scripts) can reliably consume.
