📋 Description
- • As a Senior Software Engineer II on the Marketplace team at Apartment List, you will play a critical role in transforming how people rent by building and maintaining the systems that match renters to homes across ApartmentList.com and Sunny.com. Your work will directly impact over 1.4 million renters who have already found homes through the platform, helping to make the rental process smarter, easier, and less frustrating.
- • Day to day, you will build and maintain full-stack features for marketplace products including search, ranking, and renter-facing UI; support and extend ML Ops infrastructure such as model deployment pipelines, feature stores, and monitoring on Chalk and Vertex AI; collaborate with data scientists to bring models into production reliably and at scale; write clean, well-tested code; participate in code reviews; contribute to technical planning; identify and address performance, reliability, and scalability issues; and communicate progress clearly while surfacing blockers early.
- • You will join a globally distributed engineering team at Apartment List, a company backed by strong growth and a big vision to build the future of renting. - • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in both full-stack product engineering and machine learning operations, gain hands-on experience with modern ML Ops tooling like Vertex AI and Chalk, contribute to high-impact strategic initiatives that transform the business, and grow as a mentor and technical leader within a culture that values ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with meaningful work in backend or full-stack development
- • Proficiency in at least one backend language (Ruby/Javascript, Go, or Python)
- • Experience working in cloud environments (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure also considered)
- • Excellent communication skills, debugging instincts, and an ownership mindset
- • Ability to collaborate effectively across time zones and with cross-functional partners
- • Mentorship experience for other engineers
