Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end quality strategy for Axon’s public-safety cloud platform, ensuring every release protects the lives of officers and the communities they serve. You will design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks that validate critical workflows—from body-camera evidence upload to real-time situational awareness dashboards—at scale and under extreme load.
- • Partner directly with product managers, UX researchers, and on-the-ground officers to translate real-world policing scenarios into deterministic, repeatable test cases. Your test suites will simulate everything from a foot-pursuit video upload over spotty 4G to a multi-agency evidence-sharing session during a city-wide emergency.
- • Drive the adoption of shift-left testing practices across 20+ engineering squads. You’ll embed with feature teams, run risk-based test design workshops, and create living documentation that turns acceptance criteria into executable specs. Expect to champion TDD and BDD so that quality is baked in, not bolted on.
- • Build and evolve a cloud-native, containerized test infrastructure on AWS that spins up thousands of parallel test environments in minutes. You’ll leverage Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm to give every engineer a disposable, production-like sandbox for experimentation without compromising sensitive law-enforcement data.
- • Instrument codebases (Java, Kotlin, Go, React, React Native) with tracing, metrics, and synthetic user journeys. You’ll define SLIs/SLOs for latency-sensitive features such as live-streaming body-cam footage and set up automated alerts that page the right on-call engineer before an officer ever notices a hiccup.
- • Lead the charge on performance, security, and chaos engineering. Run 10x peak-load simulations, inject region-wide outages, and orchestrate red-team attacks against our evidence pipeline. Your findings will directly influence architectural decisions that keep critical evidence tamper-proof and court-admissible.
- • Mentor a globally distributed team of SDETs and junior developers through pair-programming, design reviews, and weekly guild sessions. You’ll craft career ladders, define coding standards, and create reusable libraries that cut test authoring time by 50% across the organization.
- • Continuously refine release gates and rollback strategies. You’ll integrate with Axon’s CI/CD platform (GitHub Actions, Argo CD) to deploy 50+ microservices multiple times a day with zero downtime, while maintaining SOC 2 Type II and CJIS compliance.
- • Stay ahead of emerging threats and technologies—think AI-generated deepfake evidence or 5G edge deployments—by running quarterly hackathons and publishing internal tech briefs. Your research will shape Axon’s three-year test and reliability roadmap.
- • Measure what matters: publish quarterly quality scorecards that correlate defect escape rates with customer impact, officer safety metrics, and community trust indices. Use these insights to secure executive buy-in for engineering investments that save lives.
