Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Senior Software Engineer in Infrastructure & Developer Tooling at Standard Bots, you will lead the design and scaling of foundational systems that enable secure, reliable, and efficient robot deployment and development across a growing robotics platform, directly impacting the company’s ability to scale automation solutions in real-world environments.
  • • You will serve as a technical leader for infrastructure initiatives, mentoring 1–2 engineers and shaping long-term technical strategy while collaborating cross-functionally to ensure engineering teams can develop, test, and release software with high velocity and confidence.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable CI/CD pipelines for robot software updates, building automated provisioning systems for robot fleets, and developing infrastructure-as-code using Terraform to manage multi-cloud environments with a focus on cost efficiency and availability.
  • • You will implement and evolve observability stacks to monitor robot fleet health, track deployment success rates, and automatically detect and alert on production issues through logging, metrics, and distributed tracing systems.
  • • A core part of your role involves building internal developer tooling to streamline workflows—such as standardized local development environments, automated testing frameworks, and release automation tools—while promoting engineering best practices through documentation and automation.
  • • You will drive security and compliance by designing identity and access management (IAM) systems, securing robot-cloud communication channels, and implementing secrets management and audit logging to meet evolving security standards.
  • • Collaboration is key: you will work closely with software engineers, QA, Solutions, and Assembly Tech teams to gather feedback on pain points and co-create platform improvements that enhance reliability and developer experience across the organization.
  • • The team operates in a hybrid model with 3 days/week onsite in the NYC office near Grand Central Station, which includes access to live robots for testing and demos, plus approximately 4 days/month at the Glen Cove robotics facility for hands-on integration work.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to build infrastructure from the ground up at a fast-moving robotics startup, where your contributions will directly shape the scalability, security, and usability of systems that power real-world automation.
  • • You will gain deep experience in cloud-native infrastructure, DevOps at scale, and developer experience engineering—skills that are highly transferable and increasingly critical in modern software organizations, positioning you for broader technical leadership roles.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 7+ years of software engineering experience with proven leadership in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering projects
  • • Strong expertise in CI/CD systems, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including hands-on experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
  • • Demonstrated experience implementing and scaling observability systems (monitoring, logging, alerting) and developer tooling to improve engineering velocity and reliability
  • • Solid understanding of cloud-native security best practices, including IAM, secrets management, and secure service-to-service communication
  • • Proficiency in Python and Node.js/TypeScript, with familiarity in React, Docker, Postgres, and Cloudflare
  • • Passion for building platforms that empower engineering teams, with interest in robotics and automation (prior robotics experience not required)

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Hybrid work model: 3 days/week onsite in NYC office near Grand Central Station, with ~4 days/month at the Glen Cove robotics facility
  • • Access to a fully equipped office with live robots for demos, testing, and hands-on development
  • • Competitive base salary range of $170,000–$220,000, plus eligibility for Employee Stock Options
  • • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, and 401(k) plan
  • • Paid time off and holidays to support work-life balance and well-being
  • • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge robotics infrastructure with real-world impact in automation and physical systems
