Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of integrations that connect Censys’ Internet intelligence platform with the security ecosystems of the world’s largest enterprises, government agencies, and threat-intel partners—turning raw network telemetry into immediately actionable insights.
- • Architect and maintain high-throughput, low-latency data pipelines that ingest, normalize, and enrich billions of daily observations from scanners, sensors, and partner feeds, ensuring 99.9 % uptime for mission-critical customers.
- • Design resilient RESTful and streaming APIs that allow external SOAR, SIEM, and TIP platforms to query Censys in real time, while abstracting away the complexity of IPv4, IPv6, certificate, banner, and DNS data models.
- • Collaborate daily with Product, Threat Research, and Customer Success to translate vague integration requests (“make it work with Splunk”) into crisp technical specs, accurate SLAs, and delightful developer documentation.
- • Lead code reviews and pair-programming sessions that raise the bar for Go, Python, and Terraform quality across the 30-person engineering org, mentoring mid-level engineers on concurrency patterns, idempotent deployments, and test-driven development.
- • Build and operate cloud-native infrastructure on AWS (EKS, MSK, RDS, S3, DynamoDB) using Infrastructure-as-Code principles; tune autoscaling groups and cost-optimization policies to keep COGS predictable while traffic grows 3× year-over-year.
- • Implement OAuth 2.0 / SAML integrations and fine-grained RBAC so federal and Fortune-50 customers can onboard without exposing sensitive credentials or violating compliance mandates like FedRAMP High and SOC 2 Type II.
- • Instrument every integration with OpenTelemetry traces, Prometheus metrics, and SLO-based alerting that pages you (and only you) when p99 latency drifts above 500 ms or error budgets burn faster than 2 % per week.
- • Contribute to the open-source community by publishing SDKs, Terraform modules, and example playbooks that let security teams stand up a working Censys integration in under five minutes.
- • Champion a security-first mindset: run threat models for every new connector, enforce least-privilege IAM policies, and coordinate red-team exercises to ensure our attack surface stays smaller than the adversary’s.
- • Iterate rapidly in two-week sprints, shipping behind feature flags so that beta customers can validate new enrichment sources (e.g., Shodan, Censys Search 2.0) without jeopardizing production workloads.
- • Present quarterly tech talks at internal guilds and external conferences (BSides, RSA, SANS) to share lessons learned from scaling Internet-wide data ingestion to 50 PB per year.
- • Influence the 2025 product roadmap by surfacing integration gaps discovered during customer calls—turning field feedback into Jira epics that directly shape Censys’ next $50 M ARR milestone.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of backend or platform engineering experience in Go, Python, or Java, including production ownership of distributed systems at Internet scale.
- • Proven track record designing and maintaining public REST/GraphQL APIs with clear versioning, backward compatibility, and rate-limiting strategies.
- • Hands-on expertise with AWS or GCP, container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS/GKE), and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi).
- • Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, TLS, HTTP/2, gRPC) and security standards (OAuth 2.0, SAML, OIDC).
- • Nice-to-have: prior work on threat-intel, SIEM, or SOAR integrations; contributions to open-source security projects; experience with FedRAMP or SOC 2 compliance.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly in-person summits in destinations like Lisbon, Denver, or Tokyo.
- • Competitive salary + equity in a late-stage, fast-growing cybersecurity company valued at over $1 B.
- • Platinum medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and dependents, plus a $2 k annual wellness stipend.
- • 20 days PTO, 11 federal holidays, and a “take-what-you-need” sick leave policy—because burnout helps no one.
- • $1.5 k annual professional-development budget for conferences, courses, or certifications (e.g., AWS Security Specialty, SANS GCIA).
