Senior Software Engineer (Isolation/Sandboxing)

📋 Description

• • Build and improve secure workload isolation systems for enterprise-grade automation platforms.
• • Design and implement sandboxing mechanisms to safely execute user-generated and AI-generated code in multi-tenant environments.
• • Work with Linux security primitives including namespaces, cgroups, seccomp, permissions, and access controls to enforce strict process isolation.
• • Profile and optimize large-scale distributed systems to identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks in high-throughput environments.
• • Improve networking performance and traffic management using Linux kernel networking primitives such as netfilter, nftables, eBPF, tc, and network namespaces.
• • Design and evolve internal protocols and service communication mechanisms to ensure reliability and low-latency interactions across distributed components.
• • Contribute to and debug system-level services and infrastructure components that underpin Workato’s cloud-native architecture.
• • Evaluate, integrate, and extend technologies such as gVisor, KVM, containerd, CRI-O, Kata Containers, and Firecracker to enhance isolation and security.
• • Drive technical projects from initial architecture and requirements gathering through implementation, testing, and production rollout.
• • Collaborate across engineering teams to define and deploy common, sustainable solutions for isolation, networking, and security.
• • Maintain deep expertise in Linux internals, systems programming, and cloud infrastructure to support the platform’s scalability and safety.
• • Apply expertise in performance engineering to optimize resource utilization and reduce overhead in containerized and virtualized workloads.
• • Ensure system designs align with enterprise-grade security standards and compliance requirements for Fortune 500 customers.
• • Debug complex, low-level issues spanning kernel, network, and application layers with precision and speed.
• • Contribute to open source projects related to isolation, virtualization, or Linux security, where applicable.
• • Maintain a strong focus on operational excellence, reliability, and observability in all system components.
• • Solve complex problems with attention to detail, balancing security, performance, and maintainability in production systems.
• • Own end-to-end delivery of critical infrastructure features, from concept to deployment and monitoring.
