- • Own the end-to-end development of critical components of Parafin’s lending platform infrastructure, including systems and frameworks that enable product teams to build and ship lending products quickly and reliably.
- • Partner directly with engineering teams across Parafin—such as those focused on offer generation, servicing, and repayment—to understand their product needs and design platform capabilities that accelerate their development cycles.
- • Identify, prioritize, and implement infrastructure improvements that enhance system reliability, scalability, and maintainability to support evolving financial product requirements.
- • Independently drive the design, implementation, and delivery of new platform features without supervision, from concept through deployment and post-launch monitoring.
- • Contribute to engineering culture by conducting thoughtful code reviews, writing clear technical documentation, and facilitating knowledge sharing across teams.
- • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers by providing guidance on architecture decisions, code quality standards, and best practices in backend development.
- • Act as a key contributor to team process improvements, including refining agile workflows, increasing deployment frequency, and reducing technical debt.
- • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Compliance teams to ensure platform features meet business objectives, regulatory requirements, and user needs.
- • Build and maintain systems that support embedded financial products integrated with partner platforms like DoorDash, Amazon, Worldpay, and Mindbody.
- • Ensure platform components are designed with strong correctness, auditability, and resilience to meet the high standards of financial technology systems.
- • Participate in on-call rotation to support production systems and respond to critical incidents affecting lending product functionality.
- • Advocate for scalable and reusable architectural patterns that reduce duplication and increase developer productivity across engineering teams.
- • Translate complex financial workflows into technical specifications and communicate trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- • Stay current with industry trends in backend engineering, distributed systems, and fintech infrastructure to continuously improve platform capabilities.
- • Contribute to hiring and onboarding processes by evaluating technical candidates and helping integrate new engineers into the team’s culture and practices.
- • Maintain a user-focused mindset, ensuring all platform work ultimately enables faster, more reliable financial tools for small businesses.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience working in a backend engineering role, ideally in a platform or product-focused environment
- • Comfort owning and driving the development of new platform capabilities from the ground up
- • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and a desire to continue learning
- • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working across Engineering, Product, and Data Science teams
- • Experience building internal platforms or frameworks that other engineering teams build on top of
- • Experience in fintech, financial products, or embedded finance
