• • Architect and deliver the next generation of embedded investment infrastructure. As a Senior Software Engineer you will own the full lifecycle of cloud-native services that power £-billions in assets under administration, enabling financial advisers and fintechs to launch investment propositions in days rather than months.
• • Join a cross-functional squad within one of four tribes—Custody, Accounts, Experience, or Cloud & Security—where you will co-create product roadmaps, influence technical strategy and ship production code every day. You will be the technical anchor for 3-5 engineers, translating complex regulatory and business requirements into elegant, testable TypeScript running on AWS Lambda, EventBridge and MongoDB.
• • Design, build and operate resilient, low-latency APIs that scale from hundreds to millions of requests while maintaining sub-second response times. You will enforce SLAs of 99.9 % uptime, implement circuit breakers, idempotency keys and distributed tracing so that every transaction is observable and every failure is recoverable.
• • Champion a “build-and-run” culture. You will deploy your own infrastructure as code using Serverless Framework and Terraform, configure alarms in CloudWatch, join a structured on-call rotation and lead blameless post-mortems. When an incident strikes at 3 a.m. you are the calm voice that restores service and turns pain into runbooks and automated safeguards.
• • Pair program, review pull requests and mentor mid-level and junior engineers. You will run weekly brown-bag sessions on advanced TypeScript patterns, sponsor guilds on serverless cost optimisation and create internal libraries that raise the bar for testing, logging and security across every squad.
• • Translate financial regulations such as CASS, MiFID II and GDPR into clean domain models and bullet-proof audit trails. You will collaborate with compliance officers to ensure every ledger entry is immutable and every report is reproducible, turning red-tape into competitive advantage.
• • Experiment fearlessly. Whether you are prototyping a real-time portfolio rebalancing engine with EventBridge or migrating a legacy C# service to ECS Fargate, you will spike, measure and iterate until the data tells you it is ready for production. You know when to polish and when to ship “good enough for now”.
• • Communicate fluently with non-technical stakeholders. You will demo features to customer-facing teams, explain architectural trade-offs to product managers and distill complex outages into five-line status updates that keep the CEO and clients equally informed and confident.
• • Drive continuous improvement. You will instrument your services with OpenTelemetry, reduce cold-start latency by 40 % and cut monthly AWS spend through smarter partitioning and reserved concurrency. Your dashboards become the single source of truth for capacity planning and business KPIs.
• • Embrace remote-first flexibility while valuing human connection. You will join quarterly in-person team days in Bath, London or Edinburgh for white-boarding, social dinners and strategic planning, ensuring that relationships remain as strong as the software you ship.
