📋 Description
- • Senior Software Engineer, Platform role at Astronomer, Inc. focused on building and scaling the production infrastructure for Astro, Observe, and IDE products, directly impacting how global organizations orchestrate data pipelines at scale.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include owning and building test, build, and deployment systems in a high-scale PaaS environment, making data-driven decisions on platform evolution, collaborating across teams to set technology standards, and participating in incident management and reliability practices.
- • The Platform Engineering team is part of Astronomer’s R&D organization, working on cloud infrastructure and open-source software at scale, reporting directly to the VP of Reliability, with a focus on reliability, ownership, and building internal documentation.
- • In this role, you will learn and achieve mastery in cloud-native systems design, gain deep expertise in Kubernetes and observability, influence platform reliability practices, and grow as a technical leader in a globally distributed, high-impact engineering environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong experience in Non-Abstract Systems design and implementation
- • Strong proficiency in Python, Golang and in-depth experience with Kubernetes (CKA or equivalent or greater)
- • Experience with observability principles and technologies, including SLI/SLO definition and tracking
- • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in working with a globally distributed team in delivery
- • Experience with software development best practices, such as code review, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation and debugging
