Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Shape the face of a brand-new open-source DBaaS that is already turning heads in the Kubernetes community. As the senior frontend specialist you will own the entire UI lifecycle—from concept and Figma hand-off to pixel-perfect, accessible, and performant React components—giving thousands of developers an elegant way to orchestrate Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB clusters with confidence.
- • Architect and evolve a scalable component library on top of MUI v5, TypeScript, and React 18. You will establish coding patterns, accessibility standards, and automated testing conventions that the team will follow for years, ensuring every feature ships with Storybook docs, unit tests (Vitest + react-testing-library), and E2E coverage (Playwright).
- • Translate complex infrastructure workflows (provisioning, scaling, backups, failover, monitoring) into intuitive, self-explanatory UX. You will collaborate daily with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to distill domain-heavy APIs into clear visual hierarchies, progressive disclosure, and delightful micro-interactions that hide Kubernetes complexity.
- • Drive performance and reliability. You will code-split intelligently, lazy-load heavy routes, optimise re-renders with React Query and Zustand, and keep our bundle under 250 KB. You will also own error boundaries, telemetry integration (OpenTelemetry), and fallback UIs that keep the control plane usable even when clusters misbehave.
- • Champion CI/CD excellence. Our monorepo uses Turborepo, pnpm, and GitHub Actions; you will fine-tune parallel pipelines, visual regression checks, and automated canary releases so every merge is production-ready within minutes. You will also review peers’ PRs, provide constructive feedback, and mentor mid-level engineers to raise collective standards.
- • Influence roadmap and strategy. Because this is a 2023 green-field product, your voice matters: propose new features, justify tech-trade-offs, and present metrics that guide quarterly OKRs. Whether it’s dark-mode, internationalisation, or a CLI plugin generator, you will have the autonomy to pitch, prototype, and ship.
- • Maintain a “docs-first” mindset. You will write concise ADRs, keep README files accurate, and contribute to public open-source docs so external contributors can replicate your setup in minutes. Your code will be visible on GitHub, discussed in community Slack, and demoed at KubeCon—real impact, real recognition.
- • Enjoy true flexibility. We are remote-first across European time-zones; you choose where you work best. Daily Slack stand-ups, weekly design reviews, and monthly release retros keep us synced without micromanagement. We trust you to manage your own backlog and vacation days responsibly.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years shipping production React applications with TypeScript and Material-UI; portfolio or GitHub history demonstrating complex SPAs you personally led.
- • Expertise with React Hook Form, react-testing-library, and at least one E2E framework (Playwright or Cypress); evidence of testing strategies beyond “happy path”.
- • Solid Docker fundamentals—you can build, run, and debug containers locally and understand how frontend assets are served in a Kubernetes environment.
- • Exceptional communicator in English; comfortable presenting technical decisions asynchronously via Slack, Notion, or Loom to a globally distributed team.
- • Nice-to-have: curiosity around Kubernetes, Helm charts, or open-source databases; hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools.
🏖️ Benefits
- • 100 % remote-first culture with flexible working hours and a monthly home-office stipend for gear, co-working passes, or faster internet.
- • 25 days paid vacation plus local bank holidays and a company-wide well-being trimester featuring mental-health coverage, fitness reimbursements, and no-meeting Fridays.
- • Stock option plan granting equity in the product you are building, because we want you to share in the upside as the open-source community grows.
- • Annual learning budget (conferences, courses, books, certifications) and dedicated 10 % “innovation time” every sprint to experiment with new tech or contribute upstream.
