Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Rust at Foxglove Technologies, you will play a critical role in building the data infrastructure that powers real-world robotics observability, enabling engineers to diagnose, improve, and scale autonomous systems across factories, warehouses, vehicles, and field deployments.
- • Your work will directly impact the reliability and performance of systems that ingest, store, query, replay, and analyze massive volumes of multimodal sensor data from live robots and production fleets, making you a key contributor to the advancement of robotics and embodied AI.
- • You will design and develop backend services and data processing pipelines capable of ingesting massive volumes of sensor data through both batch and real-time offload mechanisms, ensuring low-latency random-access playback over petabyte-scale datasets across device, time, and sensor dimensions.
- • You will implement and optimize systems for offloading data from remote robots in network-constrained environments, leveraging asynchronous Rust to build memory-efficient, high-throughput streaming and compute services that operate reliably across multi-cloud deployments (GCP, AWS, Azure).
- • You will contribute to the evolution of Foxglove’s platform by integrating with managed Kubernetes environments, PostgreSQL databases, and endpoint software written in Rust, while collaborating on cross-functional efforts to improve data serialization, network protocols, and cloud-native architectures.
- • You will participate in on-call rotations to ensure platform reliability and respond to production incidents, applying your systems expertise to maintain high availability and performance under variable network and load conditions.
- • You will engage with a small, fast-moving team of world-class engineers, designers, and researchers who are passionate about open-source developer tools, contributing to a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and innovation.
- • You will have the opportunity to deepen your expertise in systems programming, distributed data infrastructure, and robotics-specific challenges, while shaping the technical direction of a Series B company at a high-leverage growth moment.
- • You will gain visibility and autonomy in driving end-to-end initiatives, from architecture to deployment, with the satisfaction of knowing your work accelerates the development of next-generation robotics and AI systems used by leading teams worldwide.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience writing production software in systems programming languages such as Rust, C++, C, Go, or Java.
- • Proven ability to write highly performant, memory-efficient code, with experience in binary data serialization, network communication protocols, and shipping software in network-constrained environments.
- • Strong aptitude to quickly become productive in an async Rust codebase, ideally with 1+ year of professional Rust experience.
🏖️ Benefits
- • $300 monthly budget for commuter benefits or home office setup (remote-only roles).
- • Comprehensive health coverage: Medical, Dental, Vision, and Term Life insurance at 100% for employees and 75% for dependents.
- • 401(k) matching up to 4%, 4 weeks vacation, holidays, winter break, and all-expenses-paid company off-sites 1–2 times per year.
