📋 Description

• As a Senior Software Engineer on the SaaS platform team at Strayer University, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in building and enhancing Workforce Edge—a mission-critical, multitenant education benefits platform under Strategic Education Inc. (SEI) that empowers employers, learners, and academic institutions to expand economic mobility through accessible, career-relevant learning solutions. Your work will directly impact workforce upskilling initiatives and enable employees to pursue affordable, flexible education opportunities at scale.
• You will design, develop, test, and deploy end-to-end platform capabilities, translating complex business needs into scalable, high-quality software within a true agile environment where engineers have strong ownership and visibility into the impact of their contributions. This role emphasizes backend and platform engineering, with deep involvement in APIs (GraphQL and REST), background job processing, third-party integrations, and data pipelines that ensure reliability and performance of a large-scale SaaS product.
• You will collaborate closely with product, QA, and engineering teams to shape technical direction, mentor fellow engineers, lead code reviews, and champion best practices in automated testing, CI/CD, and observability—driving continuous improvement in system reliability and user experience.
• The team operates with a strong engineering culture rooted in agility, innovation, and accountability, where your expertise in modern full-stack development will be instrumental in evolving a platform that serves thousands of users across diverse tenant environments while maintaining security, scalability, and operational excellence.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in SaaS architecture, multi-tenant data modeling, event-driven systems, and cloud-native development on GCP and/or AWS, while strengthening your leadership abilities through mentorship, technical design participation, and cross-functional collaboration—positioning you for growth into senior technical or architectural leadership roles.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in web application design, development, and implementation
• 4+ years of experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript, including strong proficiency in React or a comparable modern JavaScript framework
• 1+ years of experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar), including schema design, queries, migrations, and ORM usage
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP and/or AWS), including compute, storage, serverless services, and CI/CD pipelines
• Demonstrated ability to design and maintain platform APIs (GraphQL and REST), background job processing systems, and data integrations (e.g., file-based sync, third-party APIs)
• Proven experience mentoring engineers, leading code reviews, and promoting agile practices, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code principles
